CCTV POLICY
Closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras are in operation 24 hours a day on this site. Video images of you may be recorded.
CCTV cameras are located at entrances and strategic points throughout the Old Spitalfields Market premises.
CCTV is used for the prevention, investigation and detection of criminal activity and to promote public safety.
Our duty is to ensure your personal safety and security and we are acting in the public interest in maintaining constant recorded surveillance of this site.
The images are recorded centrally and held in a secure location. Access to, and disclosure of, images recorded on CCTV is strictly controlled.
On request, we may share images with the Police for crime prevention and investigation. Recordings can be used in a court of law.
All CCTV recordings are deleted and overwritten on a recycling basis and are not held for more than 30 days. Images may be retained for a longer period where a law enforcement agency is investigating a crime.
You have the right on request to receive a copy of CCTV images of yourself if you are recognisable from these images but not of those of other people and not if it would prejudice the prevention or detection of crime.
You have the right to request deletion of these recordings, but we may have legal reasons to refuse your request.
