This year we focus on weaving, the craft that first put Spitalfields on the map in the 18th century
This London Craft Week we’re celebrating the art of weaving past and present plus have a exciting Bridal Brand from Chicago presenting it’s first Zero Waste Wedding Gown collection.

Take Part: Communal Embroidery Table
From the 9th – 14th you can take a seat with Stitch School to help create a unique piece of communal embroidery, the Huguenot Supper Cloth. Some sessions will be enhanced by talks with local historian David Cruikshank, who will be dropping by to share history of the Huguenot Weavers of 18th c Spitalfields.
Demo: The Modern Weaver
On May 9th & 10th we’ll be joined by Majeda Clarke, who will be hosting a series of live demos allowing us to explore the art of the modern weaver.
Exhibition: The Fabric of the Rug
Meanwhile, from 8th – 14th May The Mercantile London host an exhibition by Devon-based artist, designer and weaver Nancy Nicholson.
Pop up: Zero Waste Bridal
Upstairs at Spitalfields, discover Bricolage Bridal’s Zero Waste wedding gown collection.
Bricolage Bridal will be debuting their first collection of zero-waste wedding gowns from May 8-12th at Old Spitalfields Market. Visitors to the London Craft Week pop-up will have the chance to shop the collection while watching Bricolage’s artisans create gowns in their second-floor Spitalfields Market space during the week, and will also be able to create customized tote bags and scrunchies during the launch party on May 11.
