Our friends at trendsetting family app, Hoop, have selected some of their favourite kid-friendly activities happening in and around our enclave of East London, including lots of free events taking place each week inside the Market.
After-School Art Club
A series of afternoon workshops for creative kids. Each Monday, paper craft specialists PomegranArt invites a small group of children to nourish, focus and quieten their minds by getting creative and making something beautiful to take home, using a guided step-by-step method of teaching.

Bus King Theatre
Time your visit just right, and you might catch Bus King Theatre – see comical puppet shows and take part in puppet making workshops in a converted Routemaster bus that’s been transformed into a miniature coliseum. Come half-term, you can find the bus parked just off Brushfield Street.

Kids Creative Space at Old Spitalfields Market
Discover a creative kids’ pop-up in the heart of Old Spitalfields Market every Monday to Wednesday mornings. Young children can create their own work of chalk art with help of friendly local artists, while parents can take a seat close-by and maybe even enjoy a coffee while it’s still hot.

Spitalfields City Farm
Visit a farmyard without leaving the city. Budding animal lovers will have a blast seeing goats, sheep, pigs, donkeys, rabbits, parrots and more, and there’s plenty of green spaces to explore and learn about plants. Look out for seasonal events, like spring’s Sheep & Wool Fayre and Apple Day in autumn.

Kids Culture Club at Old Spitalfields Market
Free drop-in workshops every Saturday between 11am and 3pm. Upcoming sessions in June will be led by paper florists Pom Pom Factory, where children can create a pom pom flower bouquet, hair wreath or garland to take away, and creative arts educators Little Artists London, where children can tackle create wands, crowns and room decorations.

Whitechapel Gallery
Family fun at one of East London’s favourite galleries. Upcoming events including Live Art, where families will experience a work of art that combines football, photography and performance, and Alone Together, a day of family activities that celebrate the new exhibition by Duchamp & Sons and artist Seth Pimlott.
