Eat & drink your way around the World (Cup) at Old Spitalfields Market

It's time to sample the finest from the qualifying nations and settle down to watch a match at the Market.

This World Cup we’re inviting you to switch the packed pubs and pork scratchings for something altogether more sophisticated at the Old Spitalfields Market Bar.

We’ll be showing all the afternoon and evening matches in this laidback and light venue and to ensure you get a good result whatever the score, we’ve compiled a complimentary menu of food and drink from around the Market inspired by the qualifying nations…

Androuet – Cheese & Ham

There are cheese and ham toasties… and then there are cheese and ham toasties by Androuet London. A family business which began in Paris in 1909, Androuet is run by french cheesemonger brothers Leo and Alex and has been in Old Spitalfields Market since 2009. As well as their cheese shop and restaurant you’ll now find their stall within the Market serving up Raclette and their dedicated cheese and ham stall, serving up their ultimate toasties and baguettes. Chose from classic, blue or truffle ham & cheese complete with pickles and mustard.

Old Spitalfields Market Bar – Vinho Verde

Our Old Spitalfields Market Bar and Bottle Shop isn’t just a great place to watch the football, they also have a wonderful, carefully selected wine list and are Portuguese wine experts. Whether you are watching a match, or just people watching in the Market, drink like a Quinta de Raza local buy enjoying a cold Vinho Verde in a chilled clay cup.

Thousand Knives – Japanese Hot Dog

Serving Japanese small plates, from the team behind Dalston’s Brilliant Corners, Thousand Knives’ new summer special is a surprisingly delightful departure from their normal menu. Their Japanese Hot Dog features a smoked Frankfurter sausage in a brioche bun, topped with pickled cucumbers, spicy sriracha sauce and oodles of nori seaweed and is a serious street food game-changer.

Flank London – Piggy Bun

Known for his modern British nose to tail cooking, chef Tom Griffiths’s menu at Flank London delivers, whether you are sitting at the counter for a full feast, or grabbing a brisket bun to go. For guaranteed mid-match excitement (whatever the action is like on the pitch), order a Piggy Bun. This nose to tail pig nugget is served with kohlrabi & cabbage slaw,  mayo, plum ketchup, chili, coriander and lime dressing.

Climpsons & Sons – The Baron

For the perfect post-match pick-me-up, head to Climpsons and order The Baron Classic Espresso.  A classic, crowd pleaser from Daterra Estate in Brazil, this rich, rounded and sweet this coffee is characteristic of the area, with a flavour profile of clean dark chocolate, sweet nuttiness and marzipan.
