Denis Severs House is considered one of the finest small museums in the world.
Simon Pettet Exhibition and Simon’s Story Evening Experience
A young and gifted ceramicist, Simon Pettet reimagined 17th and 18th-century blue-and-white pottery employing traditional techniques and historical references in order to create something new and fresh. He was inspired by Dennis to make multiple pieces of this delftware – from tiles to tulip vases – which continue to enliven Dennis Severs’ House.
Simon died HIV positive at the age of 28 in 1993 having produced a significant body of accomplished work.
Curated by Rupert Thomas, former editor of The World of Interiors, the exhibition extends throughout the house and is the largest selection of Simon’s work ever shown publicly. This exhibition includes previously unseen pieces from private collections, this exhibition extends throughout the house, permitting an assessment of Simon Pettet’s achievement in the rooms where he lived and worked.
An unguided tour through the house in daylight, explored at your own pace
Complementing our exhibition, Simon’s Story is a scripted tour performed by an actor that offers an opportunity to understand more of the private and public lives of those who created Dennis Severs’ House in the 1980s and 1990s.
